Our art collective, Pataphysical Studios, presented a special exhibit on the Pataphysics of Dada at the Canessa Gallery in San Francisco, from November 3 to 12, 2016. It was part of the Dada World Fair, organized by City Lights to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Dada art movement. During this exhibit, we hosted “Pata Dada Ha Ha!”, two evenings of art, theater, music and poetry, with a wondrous array of special guests -- including “Ubu’s Dreams”, our shadow puppet show. So many people came to this small venue that we had to give two half-hour shows on November 5th, at 6:30 and 7:30pm - and a third show on closing night, November 12th. This photo set covers the third show only. Our half-hour presentation was hosted by Dr. Zboon, and featured these artists: • Cello Joe (Cellist) & Toni Tone (Singer) • Dan Cantrell (Accordionist) • Dr. Fabio (Ubu & Trump, Alfred Jarry reading) • Dr. Canard (The Pataphysical Slot Machine poem) • Drs. Figurine and Canard (Theremin + Didgeridoo) • Ernesto Sanchez (Mask Dance) • Ubu’s Dreams (Shadow Puppet Show by Drs. Zboon, Fabio and Mechano) Before the show, we greeted our guests with a shot of absinthe -- and introduced as a new collection of patadada paintings, sculptures and mobiles. We also invited them to sit down and interact with the Pataphysical Slot Machine, our poetic oracle. We have been truly inspired by the warm response from our many visitors -- and are very grateful to our gracious hosts Dr. Zack and Prof. Peet for inviting us to present our work in the very special Canessa Gallery. This has been an incredibly uplifting experience for all of us, like a beacon of light and culture -- in striking contrast to the darkness of our times. This footage from our main camera was shot by Drs. Heatshrink and Fabio -- stay tuned for an edited video of this event. Vive la ‘pataphysique!
