Summary

[edit]
Description Passing under the SE 3rd Avenue Bridge in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with its bascule span opened for the ship to pass through. The bridge is a double-leaf Scherzer Rolling Lift-type bascule drawbridge built in 1960 and crosses the New River (or Tarpon River). Although painted pink at the time of this 2012 photo, the bridge's approaches were repainted gray around 2013–14 and its draw span was also repainted gray circa 2014–15. The sign on the side of the bridge's draw span gives boat operators information about times of the day when the bridge will not open for boats (due to a greater volume of road traffic).
