| Description |
English: Passing Old Oak Common An unidentified class 50 locomotive heads a Bristol bound express past Old Oak Common depot. The bridge and embankment behind carry the line between Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction. The lines coming under the brick arch behind the leading carriage connected the Clapham Junction with the western region. The green area on the right is Wormwood Scrubs.
Since this photo was taken, overhead electrification of the main line has taken place. The area beyond the tracks has become the entrance to a major depot for Eurostar trains, with a new set of tracks laid on the green area to the right of the locomotive, connecting it to Clapham Junction. The track coming under the bridge now also connects to the depot rather than the mainline. |
