Title |
Passengers board a Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) Bus in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. In 1974 the system carried 73,727,000 passengers, an increase of 27 percent since 1970. Many of those new passengers were attracted for the first time. The increase occurred for a number of reasons, including new buses, new routes, night service, fringe parking, 100-passenger waiting shelters and a decrease in the fare from 40 to 50 cents.
