Summary
[edit]DescriptionPartly formed slate^ - geograph.org.uk - 437496.jpg |
English: Partly formed slate? It is clearly sedimentary, the near vertical plane testifies to the violence of the formation of Tryfan. Ignoring the covering of moss the slate is brown, and although it looks sound, crumbles in the hand like soil.
Comment by another Geographer: "Could it not be shale? Shale is a fine grained sedimentary rock, slate is formed from shale by the process of metamorphism (changes in the rock due to either/both heat and pressure)" |
