Summary
[edit]DescriptionParsonspool - geograph.org.uk - 975144.jpg |
English: Parsonspool The building shown at the photographer location on the current maps at date of submission no longer exists, having been swallowed up in a shelter belt. It is named as Parsonspool on the 1959 one-inch map, and the 1874 six-inch map shows that there were two groups of buildings here named Parsonspool. The parish boundary between Forgue and Drumblade runs along the burn in the next square to the right, and one part of Parsonspool was in Drumblade, to the left in this view, and some in Drumblade, to the right. The story behind the name is that a parson and his horse were swallowed up and drowned in a pool here. |
