Inaugurado em Junho de 2004, o Parque Verde do Mondego veio aproximar o rio da vivência diária de Coimbra. Na margem direita nasceu uma área de mais de 400 mil metros quadrados, totalmente dedicada ao lazer. A entrada faz-se pela zona das esplanadas, assentes numa plataforma de madeira literalmente sobre o rio. Segue-se a zona "verde" propriamante dita, que soma 4 quilómetros de corredores para peões, e o mesmo comprimento de ciclovias, por entre pavilhões com exposições temporárias e muitas actividades de desporto e lazer. A rematar, o Pavilhão Centro de Portugal, que não é mais do que o Pavilhão de Portugal da Expo 2000, em Hannover, projectado por Souto Moura e Álvaro Siza Vieira, construído essencialmente com cortiça, ocupa uma área de 1.375 metros quadrados e consiste no mais recente espaço museológico da cidade. Durante o verão de 2006 foi inaugurada a inovadora ponte pedonal que liga as duas margens do Mondego, já que na margem esquerda foram um parque dedicado às actividades radicais, um parque infantil e uma zona de merendas. <a href="http://www.lifecooler.pt/edicoes/lifecooler/ch_desenvReg.asp?reg=306128" rel="nofollow">www.lifecooler.pt/edicoes/lifecooler/ch_desenvReg.asp?reg...</a> Inaugurated in June of 2004, the Green Park of the Mondego came to approach the river of the daily experience of Coimbra. In the right edge an area of more than 400 a thousand square meters was born, total dedicated to the leisure.
