Summary
[edit]DescriptionPark Castle panorama (1011205483).jpg |
Indian Boundary Park's opening in 1922 (in what was then greenfields) touched off a wave of courtyard apartment construction facing vacated streets at the east edge of the park. As a result, the courtyards seem to blend into the park: a rural greensward reaching into the high-density apartments at its edge, with nary a car in sight. In Park Castle's case, the building fenced and hedged its yards from the park in the "bad" 1970s or 1980s, so it's hard to get a good shot of its expansiveness. This shot was taken on Park Castle's grounds, showing the breadth of its double courtyard design, its battlements and crenellation. 1925, Jens E. Jenson. |
