English: 13 March 2009. Parking meter in Green Lanes, Harringay N4.
Why has it taken so long to have 'user-friendly' instructions on parking meters? Information which doesn't need a degree in Boolean Algebra and Astrophysics? For years, people told me (as a local councillor) they couldn't understand the restrictions posted on meters in Wood Green. I couldn't help because I didn't understand them either. We need to give priority to residents (and their visitors) who want to park near their homes. But we also need to welcome customers for local businesses. What everyone needs is certainty, simplicity and clarity. ► Can I park here? Yes or No? ► If 'Yes', when and for how long? ► If there's a charge, how much? ___________ So a big thank-you to whoever decided to add really simple blue sticky labels to these parking meters in Green Lanes, Harringay. ════════════════════════════ ► Update 23 January 2010. I've been meaning to check if the suggestions made by Martin Deutsch were acted on. |
