Summary
[edit]DescriptionParis Mill or Milltown at Millhaven-1024x800.jpg |
English: Georgia State Historical Marker at Millhaven, site of Paris' Mill, where the first skirmish of the Battle of Brier Creek occurred. Upstream from this marker and the bridge over Brier Creek (seen in background) there remains one small portion of the mill dam standing midstream amongst the fallen down rock that formed the remainder of the dam.
The bridge at the mill site was burned down by retreating Patriot forces and the advancing British demolished the home and / or millhouse of Francis Paris. They used that wood to construct a bridge or pontoons across Brier Creek. Once across the creek, the British then advanced into the rear of Patriot General Ashe's force and defeated them. |
