Description
English: Spc. Mitch Evarts, a U.S. Army paratrooper assigned to Fifth Section, Bravo Battery, 4-319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment (AFAR), 173rd Airborne Brigade braces himself after a 105mm artillery round is fired from an M119A3 Howitzer during Exercise Saber Junction at Grafenwoehr Training Area, Germany, Sept. 10, 2019.

4-319th AFAR is supporting the brigade’s fire support coordination exercise (FSCX). The FSCX allows command posts from the brigade down to the company to synchronize communications as well as airspace and ground deconfliction to allow rapid and lethal combined arms effect on the enemy.

Saber Junction 2019 is an exercise involving nearly 5,400 participants from 16 ally and partner nations at the U.S. Army's Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels Training Areas, Sept. 3 to Sept. 30, 2019. SJ19 is designed to assess the readiness of the U.S. Army's 173rd Airborne Brigade to execute land operations in a joint, combined environment and to promote interoperability with partnering allies and partner nations.
