Description
English: Cathedra in carved red-brown varnished or veneered wood, with padded back, seat and armrests and red velvet coverings. The armrests have been hollowed out and feature a textured Greek cross motif, printed with scrollwork, with the front scroll face also carved with a rosary motif. The belt is scrolled and sculpted at the front with an acanthus leaf and crozier motif. The front legs are turned while the rear legs form an arc and end in a cross decorated with an acanthus leaf. The spacers are richly carved with plant motifs and scrolls. The seat is fully padded and covered. The backrest is scalloped and the central part, in the shape of an inverted pear, is padded and covered with fabric. The top of the padded part is carved in relief of an angel covered in feathers, except for the face. It is framed with scrolls and topped with a shell. The backrest is framed by two large acanthus leaves. The bottom of the backrest is hollowed out near the seat and features the scroll patterns framing a single inverted fleur-de-lys whose base joins the upholstered part. The back of the backrest has a part covered with fabric in the shape of an inverted pear, applied symmetrically to that which can be seen at the front.
