Français : Thésée-la -Romaine (Loir-et-Cher)
Pavot (Papaver bracteatum). Une variété ornementale qui a proliféré dans une friche. Toute la plante est couverte de poils blancs. Cette espèce originaire du sud-ouest asiatique a été introduite dans les jardins botaniques au XVIIIe siècle. La plante contient des alcaloïdes toxiques. L'industrie pharmaceutique utilise les racines (radix papaveris bracteati) dont elle extrait la thébaïne. Une fois extraite, la thébaïne sert de matière première pour obtenir la codéine. La thébaïne ne pouvant être consommée directement, cela écarte tout risque de narcomanie. |
