Title
papal bulla
Description
English: A lead alloy papal bulla of which onyl a quarter survives. It has been deliberately cut; a phenomenon which is often seen on 13th century bullae. Others have been found cut in half, or drilled for suspension. Unfortunately, not enough of the lettering survives to be able to identify the Pope who issued the document that this was used to seal, but it was probably Martinvs the IV or V. The bottom half of one of the saint's faces can be seen on the obverse, and on the reverse only the letters "(TIN)[VS] PP" are visible.
