Papal bull of Pope Martinus IV, 1281-1285.
Description
English: Papal bulla of Pope Martinus IV, 1281-5. The obverse has three lines of writing, MAR/TINVS/PP.IIII, all within a beaded border. The reverse shows two bearded male heads within beaded borders with a cross between them, and SPA SPE above (for St Paul and St Peter), all within a beaded border. There is some pitting on the reverse. There is a slot at the bottom edge to take the strap attached to the papal document. Diameter 35.14mm, thickness 4.9mm, weight 39.74g.
