Summary

[edit]
Description

German WW2 era medium tank Official designation Panzerkampfwagen IV (Sd.Kfz.161) The Panzer IV entered German service in 1939 and over 8,500 were built. The Ausf.J was the final production variant and had both an increased range and a deeper wading capability. In return, it lacked an electric turret-traversing mechanism, as well as several other small changes to save weight. This example was built by the Nibelungenwerke in March 1944 and has the chassis No.89660. It was rescued from the Bourges firing range where it had served as a target and was restored by the Rex & Rod Cadman in the UK. Complete with Zimmerit and wire-mesh side skirts, it is seen on display in the ‘Germany 1934-1945’ hall. Musée des Blindés, Saumur, Pays de la Loire, France
