Asiatic lion or Indian lion or Persian lion, is one of five big cat species found in India. The most striking morphological character, is a longitudinal fold of skin running along its belly. It is listed as Endangered due to its small population. Kingdom: Animalia Phylum: Chordata Clade: Synapsida Class: Mammalia Order: Carnivora Family: Felidae Genus: Panthera Species: P. leo Subspecies: P. l. persica Trinomial name : Panthera leo persica
