Summary
[edit]DescriptionPanshanger Aerodrome - geograph.org.uk - 1318697.jpg |
English: Panshanger Aerodrome. Panshanger was created during World War II as a decoy airfield, complete with mock-up aircraft and dummy buildings, to divert German bombers away from Hatfield. Later on during the war it did become a proper RAF airfield, turning over to civilian use in the 1950s. Today it is one of the only two licensed civilian aerodromes remaining in Hertfordshire, the other being 89376, and is the home of the North London Flying School. The main grass runway is 875 metres long. This is the entrance with Henry Wood, famous for his promenade concerts, on the left. |
