This is the house of which Paul Dorpat writes: "Built in 1869 by Seattle pioneer Carson Boren at the southeast corner of Third Avenue and Union Street, the charming structure was home for Carson’s mother Sarah Denny and her second husband John Denny, the father of Seattle founders Arthur and David Denny."
Original Central School, built 1870, on Third Avenue between Madison and Spring Streets
"Second St." rather than "Second Avenue" as it would later be known; similarly, to the left, for Third.

This portion of Elliott Bay would later be filled, creating Sodo and the Industrial District.
