Place Gaillon La porte Gaillon marquait la limite du Paris de Louis XIII. En 1672, à l'emplacement de la rue de La Michodière, Hardouin-Mansart édifia un hôtel pour le financier Nicolas Frémont. Son gendre, le duc de Lorge, fit démolir la porte vers 1690 pour agrandir sa demeure, qui disparut peu à peu entre 1778 et 1826, victime de la spéculation immobilière. En 1707, Jean Beausire avait adossé au mur de l'hôtel de Lorge une fontaine démolie avec le bâtiment, et due à Visconti. Zola a situé au n°2 de la rue de La Michodière le magasin "Au Bonheur des Dames", dénommé en réalité "La Paix". En face, le restaurant Drouant, fondé en 1880, accueille depuis 1914 le jury du Prix Goncourt. |
