Description
English: SR 2-6-0 on Up freight on the GWR main line near Pangbourne
View northward, towards Didcot, Swindon etc.: ex-GWR London - Reading - Swindon etc. main line. Another Thames Valley panorama at Basildon (cf. SU6277 : Up freight approaching Pangbourne on the main line in a very beautiful stretch of the Thames Valley), but with a SR freight running up from Moreton Cutting Sidings near Didcot and probably destined for the SR at Reading. The locomotive is a Maunsell U class 2-6-0 No. 31615 (built 8/28, withdrawn 10/63) - very versatile and commonplace type at the time.
