Notes "Nel 1881 il dipinto si trovava nel Guardamobili, mentre nel 1911 era appeso nella Stanza della macchina. Maria Antonia Ferdinanda di Borbone Spagna (1729-1785) andò in sposa nel 1750 al duca di Savoia Vittorio Amedeo III, diventato re di Sardegna nel 1773. L'iconografia della regina proposta nel ritratto, attribuibile al pittore torinese Giovanni Panealbo, è molto diffusa ed è comunque analoga a quella della cognata Maria Felicita. Si confronti in particolare l'ovale conservato nella camera da letto (21) dell'appartamento dei Duchi di Savoia al secondo piano di Palazzo Reale (riprodotto in Brancaccio N. / Prolo M. A. , 1930); diversa è invece la posizione del braccio di Maria Antonia nel ritratto appeso nella camera da letto della Duchessa d'Aosta sempre al secondo piano. Un terzo ovale simile (inv. 1966 n. 5126), dove la regina tiene nella mano destra un ventaglio, è stato schedato (ma come raffigurante Maria Felicita) da A. Griseri quando si trovava nell'ala 36 del secondo piano: al momento non è stato reperito (scheda n. 01/00036461)."
