English: After a few years of using compact digital cameras for taking my photographs, I decided to return to using a DSLR as my primary image-capture device.
I have spent the last few months deliberating over the Nikon D700 and Canon EOS 5D Mark II. The quality of their images (especially in low light) are markedly better than my Lumix LX3, but their bulk was offputting. I have decided to compromise, and purchased Panasonic's foray into the 'micro four thirds' format. As well as being markedly smaller than its DSLR competition (I will be able to carry the body and smaller zoom around with me in my existing laptop bag) the above 'kit' gives me the equivalent of a 28-400mm zoom range for a very reasonable price. |

This image has currency in it to indicate scale.
Using coins for scale is discouraged as it will require people unfamiliar with them to look up the dimensions or guess, both of which defeat the purpose of the object in the first place. Coins can also reinforce a geographical bias, and some coins' designs are copyrighted. Ideally, a photograph should include a ruler with the subject (example) or an added scale marking. SI ("metric") units are the most commonly used worldwide (see meter and centimeter). Images with coins to indicate scaleCommon coin diameters for reference:
