Description

Looking NNE from the Empire State Building observatory (1,050 ft / 320 m) in 1965. The Pan Am Building is the largest in the photo, and is one of themost recognizable structures in New York. It was opened in 1963. It has 59 floors above ground, and is 808 ft (345 m) high. It is now called the MetLife Building.

The Union Carbide Building, left of the Pan Am Building with a dark top, was a trend-setting building built in 1960. It has 53 floors and is 707 ft (215 m) high. The building, at 270 Park Avenue, is now the office of JPMorgan Chase. This photo is geotagged with the Pan Am Building location.
