| Description |
English: Palpares is s genus of large ant lions. The larvae do not build pits, but travel under sandy soil and lie in ambush for prey passing over. One reason for this might be that hoopoes and other ground-feeding birds tend to learn that edible larvae occupy ant-lion and worm-lion pits. Palpares speciosus has a wingspan of typically over 100 mm. |
