| Description |
English: View of of St Peter's Church, Clyffe Pypard, Wiltshire, England, taken from the hill. You can just see a pinnacle of the tower above a tree in the centre. This is a 2011 comparison photograph to complement the 1920s or 1930s photograph of the same view by Fred C Palmer: File:Fred C Palmer Clyffe Pypard church 001.jpg. Trees now obscure the view of the church from all of the hill. Palmer's actual camera position was perhaps 20 yards to the right of the uploader's camera position, but from that position the church is completely obscured and it is not possible to work out the camera direction, especially as no print of Palmer's photograph was available at the time.
This is the only camera position of Palmers so far found, which is difficult of access. Today it necessitates scrambling through trees and into a field, with no existing path. However access may have been easier before the trees grew up. |
