Description

Palluau-sur-Indre (Indre)

Le prieuré Saint-Laurent dépendait de l'abbaye de Saint-Genou, située à moins d'une heure à pied.

L'église Saint-Laurent date du XIe siècle et sa décoration peinte du début du XIIe.

Vendue comme bien national ,à la Révolution, l'église fut transformée en logements. Elle subit un incendie au XIXe siècle.

Les fresques recouvertes d'un badigeon furent redécouvertes par des enfants à la veille de la deuxième guerre mondiale.

Ce n'est que depuis 1977 que l'on mène des opérations de sauvetage.

Sur le cul-de-four de l'abside, la fresque de la "Vierge en majesté".

A l'emplacement de la fenêtre nord, murée au XVe siècle, Saint-Laurent sur le gril.

Sur la voute, le "Christ en majesté" entouré des symboles des évangélistes.
