Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Palaeogene dyke Superb outcrop of a dyke cutting the Eriboll Sandstone. The dyke, black in colour in contrast to the creamy sandstone, is associated with the volcanism in the Black Cuillin. Its orientation, pointing directly at the Black Cuillin Central Complex, identifies it as a member of the Skye Dyke Swarm. This is an extensive suite of intrusions that has resulted from up to 25% extension in the surrounding rocks.
