Fransa’nın Osmanlı topraklarındaki ilk diplomatik temsilciliği olan Fransız Sarayı, Beyoğlu’nun Tophane yamacında yer alır. Sarayın bulunduğu arazi 16. yüzyılda, Savary de Brèves’in Fransa elçisi olduğu dönemde satın alındı. Arazide inşa edilen yapıların çoğu, bölgede çıkan yangınlarda zarar gördü. 1833’te yeni bir saray inşası gündeme geldi; projeyi mimar Pierre-Léonard Laurécisque hazırladı. İnşası 1847’de tamamlanan yapı, mimar Georges Chadanne’in yürüttüğü onarım çalışmasıyla 1913’te son hâlini aldı. Cumhuriyet döneminde elçiliklerin Ankara’ya taşınması sonucu siyasi özelliğini yitirdi. Günümüzde, konsolosluk mensupları tarafından konut olarak kullanılmakta; bahçesinde St. Louis Kilisesi’nin yanı sıra, Pierre Loti Lisesi’nin bir bölümü ve Fransız Anadolu Araştırmaları Enstitüsü bulunmaktadır.
