Description
日本語: パイワン族蕃人の針仕事。霧頭山の麓傀儡（カリー）蕃マヌル社蕃女が蕃社の石疊のー隅で針仕事をして居る所。材料の布や絲や針は今は大抵警案の交易所から求めて來る。刺繡は全島の蕃人も巧で手間暇にお構ひなく根氣よくやるのでなかなか見事なものを作る。模樣は大抵その蕃社，蕃社で昔から圖案を踏襲し新しい工夫をすると云ふやうな事はない。内地人のよく出入する交通便利な蕃社では好事家の持ち歸る求めに應ずる寫，新機軸を出した模樣を考案する事もあるが大體彼等固有の形式から脫却しない。彼等は仕事にかかれば暇さへあれば針箱代りの籠を引き寄せて針を動かして居る。蕃地を旅すると路傍の石に憩ひながら少しの休むひまも無駄にしないでセツセと針を動かして居る老婆などを見る事がある。ーつの袋とか着物の刺繡を仕上げるのにも一年も費す事がある。（宮本延人，臺北帝國大學土俗人種學研究室助手）
