Hi Friends! I just returned from my very first trip to Yellowstone & the Tetons. It was so amazing there, I didn't want to come home. I have over 3,000 photos to go through from this trip, as well as from Mono Lake & Yosemite before that, and Death Valley before that, so the bad news is it will take me a while to look through them all to see if I got anything good, but the good news is that I should have tons to share throughout the school year, when I'm usually too busy to go out with my camera. :-) My hubby drove mom & I all the way from California to Montana and back (2,541 miles) without (hardly) a grumble. This was taken at a stop in Idaho on the way to Yellowstone...with my iPhone. :-) This was a historical site--a place where immigrants passed through this area alongside the snake river in covered wagons on the way to California & Oregon in the 1800's. Apparently, the wagon tracks can still be seen (although I couldn't see them.) A thunderstorm was moving in, and it created some beautiful light as it fell on the hills & plains. It reminded me of a painting. By late that night, as we approached Yellowstone in the dark, lightning was flashing all around us and thick ground fog nearly hid the road. Seen through the vast amounts of splattered bug guts on the windshield, it was surreal--weather like I never get to experience here in California. |
