Description

Paeonia 'Scarlett O'Hara' (Glasscock-Falk, 1956) 2020 photo - Common Name: (2-SL-R) officinalis x albiflora Hybrid Peony, Mature size: 48", Tall, large single, scarlet red guard petals, early bloomer, USDA Hardiness Zone 3-8, Michigan Bloom Month 5-6, In Garden Bed R1 for 2.7 YEARS (Wild ). Planted in 2017.

American Peony Society: SCARLET O'HARA (Falk-Glasscock 1956) (Al-A-95) VE. R (Officinalis x albiflora) Guards scarlet, yellow stamens, flower large, single. Registered Mrs. Elizabeth Falk, Plainfield, Illinois Bulletin #142 September 1956.

Bred by Lyman D. Glasscock (1875-1972) Elmwood, Illinois. He has 79 peonies listed with the American Peony Society including the popular Peony 'Mother's Choice', Peony 'Red Charm' and Peony 'Illini Warrior' (one of my favorites). Registered by Mrs. Elizabeth Falk (daughter), Plainfield, Illinois.

Stems measured at 48 inches in 2020. In its 3rd year. It is an exceptional plant. Tall, nicely shaped plant with a plethora of blooms.
