Description

Paeonia 'Border Charm' 6/2021 Itoh- (Hollingsworth, 1984) (3-SL-Y) Itoh Intersectional Peony, Mature size: 24", Sulfer Yellow with red stigmas, USDA Hardiness Zone 3-8, Michigan Bloom Month 5-6, In Garden Bed G4 for 7.7 YEARS (Swenson). Planted in 2013.

Paeonia 'Border Charm' (Hollingsworth, 1984) is a 24” yellow Itoh Intersectional peony. Compact and dwarf. The flowers are a soft sulfur yellow single (or semi-single). Deep bluish green foliage. Petals tips are a lighter shade of yellow. Flower has large red flares and a prominent center of sheathed carpels and red stigma. Strong stems that arch form a wide, low bush. Support is not usually required. It is a cross of a peony lactiflora cultivar and tree peony 'Alice Harding.' American peony breeders started introducing Itoh Intersectionals in the early to mid 1980s. This was one of those early releases.
