Description
English: Pacific Whale Foundation boat in Mā'alaea Harbor. Tips of the blades from the Kaheawa Wind Power farm can be seen in the top left. Absence of trees and brown area in middle right reveal the aftermath of a wildfire the previous year. The Mā'alaea shopping center is seen in the center and the Maui Ocean Center aquarium to its right. Orographic precipitation in the eastern, windward side is evident. In the background, the collapsed, eroded caldera in the center of the West Maui Mountains forms the rainforest of the Iao Valley. For a larger view of Mā'alaea Harbor's proximity to West Maui, see the image of the Kihei Boat Ramp taken approximately ten miles south of this location.
