Summary
[edit]DescriptionPacific Madrone (10334915843).jpg | Arbutus menziesii, commonly known as a madrone, is unlike many other trees in that it photosynthesizes not just through its leaves, but through its bark. Each spring, a madrone will have smooth green bark, which harvests additional energy for the tree. As the season progresses, the bark will turn darker and redder, and it will eventually start to peel in a paper-like fashion. Underneath, one will find new green bark to continue the cycle!. |
