[edit]DescriptionPacific Hwy South (4179189579).jpg |
Supposedly South Link is going to run elevated along Pacific Highway South. Assuming that's the center: The turn lane to my right is about 360 feet long, and it's about 930 feet between the "grassy sections". The Fred Meyer light (officially 252nd) spans about 600 feet. Near S 133rd, the tracks are elevated about 30 feet and the distance between supports is about 110 feet. I've been trying to figure out what Sound Transit plans on doing. I've heard that South Link is going to run elevated down the center of Pacific Hwy to the Redondo Heights Park & Ride (5 lights south of this one). I have three theories: 1) Elevate the tracks hundreds of feet in the air so you can put your supports further apart. 2) Purchase ROW up and down the corridor. WSDOT did this just a few years ago when they turned this 5 lane road into a 7 lane road. 3) Undo what WSDOT and the cities of Kent, Des Moines, and Federal Way paid to do by ripping up Pac Hwy again and make the turn lanes shorter. |
