all, acting chairman E. C.Johnson presiding. Mr. J. H. Godbold ofthe Steam Distribution Department gavea very interesting talk on steam as usedfor the heating of buildings. He showedthe difficulties that were encountered inproviding suitable insulation to conservethe heat and prevent radiation. He han-dled the subject in a very happy moodand simplified manv technical terms. W. Burwell of Berkeley entertainedwith a number of coniical stories, andother members volunteered. Mr. E. G. McCann of the Electric Dis-tribution Department gave a talk on mo-tors and dvnamos before a class of theBerkelev High School. Pacific Serviceis assisting in educational work. Hardlya week uasses but a class or two fromlocal schools are taken through ourworks. The interest seems to be so gen-eral in these subjects that, later on, ar-rangements will prohablv be made where-by the public will be given an opportunityto go tlirough our plants under the guid-ance of a trained lecturer.
