ngeffects to be produced at the Expositionbut little has been said of the substationequipment to make it a success. PacificService met this need by building Sub-station F and rearranging Auxiliary F. The main station is located in the westend of the Sierra and San FranciscoPower Companys North Beach power-house on the edge of the Expositiongrounds, east of Machinery Hall. Thesource of supply consists of three 4-phase3-cond., 11,000-volt, 3-phase underground cables direct from Station A, San Fran-cisco, each capable of handling a loadof 4000 K. W., and one No. 2 3-cond.,11,000-volt, 3-phase underground cablefrom Station D, San Francisco, and ca-.pable of handling 2000 K. W. This givesa total cable capacity of 14,000 K. W.In addition to this there is a 1,500,000C. M. 3-cond., 11,000-volt, 3-phase cabletie from the Sierra and San FranciscoPower Companys bus bar, which canbe used in case of an interruption ofservice. The turbines of this station willbe used as a stand-by plant as required
