Pacific Service Magazine 341 The Story of Electra, Recalled to Memory by the Recent Destruction of the Famous Boarding-House By RANDALL ELLIS The companys boarding-house at Electra, generally regarded as the model boarding-house of the entire system, was destroyed by fire on the morning of November 11th last. The disaster came without warning. About 9.15 a. m. smoke was noticed issuingfrom the ventilator of the boarding-house and the alarm was spread to everyone incamp. Everyone, except the operators on duty, was on the scene as quickly as possible,but the fire had gained such headway before being noticed that it was impossible to getat the fire-ftghting apparatus inside the building upstairs.
