The syphonwill be constructed of steel riveted pipe 6.,feet in diameter, with a total length of 2,200feet. Perhaps the most dangerous part of thework is the construction of the penstock andtram lines, with a fall of 1,350 feet, from theforebay reservoir to the power house site.Great care must be exercised by those engagedon this work. At points the line is almostprecipitous. A stubbed toe or the unwaryplacing of a foot on a loose rock might resultin serious injury. The situation is given care-ful attention, however. The laborers are madeto understand the delicacy of their position,and this, supplemented by their own goodcommon sense, has carried the work on, sofar, without accident. Although every effort is used to break allthe large rocks before casting them from theexcavation, still it frequently happens that oneharder and seemingly more addicted to theroaming life, starts on a rampage down theslope.
