As already announced the Exposition willoccupy 625 acres on the northern shore ofthe city of San Francisco, with a water front-age of approximately two miles on the island-dotted bay with the Marin County hills andMt. Tamalpais in the back ground. Hills onthree sides form a gently sloping, natural am-phtheatre which has lent itself to an archi-tectural development calhng forth the best ef- of the grounds, have not been idle. Hun-dreds of thousands of trees, shrubs, vines andflowers are ready to be removed at the propertime and set out in accord with a plan thatwill harmonize with the architectural and colorscheme of the buildings. Vines will be setout on removable trellises, close alongside theexhibit palaces, so that when the support isremoved they may be attached to the walls.

Instead ofplanning buildings, they have arranged for sixgreat courts, each of which, forming the wallsof the buildings surrounding it, expresses theindividual ideas of the architect who plannedit, thereby being in complete harmony of de-sign while entirely differentiated from allothers. Standing in any one of these courtsand looking northward, the visitor gets pic-tures of bay and mountains framed within thearches of these architectural triumphs.
