300 feet in height, the material is wood,and the towers are uniformly six feet squarefrom base to top. In the operating housethere is installed both a 12-kilowatt and a30-kilowatt Poulsen generator, together withthe receiving panels and other apparatusnecessary for the use of either generator.This allows one of the generators to be al-ways in reserve. The current required forthe use of these Poulsen generators is 600volts direct current. This is supplied by theinstallation of a 50-horsepower motor-genera-tor set, which is installed in a separate powerhouse and which changes the 220-volt alter-nating current supplied from the mains of the Pacific Gas and Electric Company to the600-volt direct current needed. There is alsoa spare motor-generator set of the same capa-city. The antenna at the San Francisco stationhas a total length of about 21,000 feet ofwire.
