The 100 H. P. motor drives shaftingconnected to three dry pans, bucket beltelevator, belt conveyor, pug machine andminor auxiliary connections. The 150 H.P. motor is belted to an idler pulley on abrick machine and operation made by meansof a friction rim clutch. By means of twomotors and friction clutches repairs can bemade to any machine during operationwithout closing down the plant in its entirety. Brick making nowadays is almost auto-matic. The rock and clay are mixed andground in the dry pan by means of a per-forated rotating table, causing two heavycast steel wheels to revolve in the oppositedirection. A stationary blade spreads themixture over the pan to utilize all thecrushing weight of the moving solid steel
