JPEG file comment | PAÁL László
(1846, Zám - 1879, Charenton) Út a fontainebleau-i erdõben 1876 Olaj, vászon, 91,5 x 63 cm Magyar Nemzeti Galéria, Budapest Paál László mûvészete a barbizoni festõk eredményeit egyéni vonásokkal gazdagította. "Út a fontainebleau-i erdõben" címû képén a fényben fürdõ természetet a formák fellazítása nélkül, mégis vibráló, áttetszõ, levegõs hatást keltve ragadja meg. Palettáján a zöldek gazdagon tobzódnak: nedvesen csillogó olívzöld, egy-egy napsütötte levél sápadt zöldje, a mohán megcsillanó tengerzöld, a sejtelmes erdõmélyének sötétzöldje - s az erdei növényzet még számtalan színváltozata csillan meg a táncoló, bujkáló napfénycsóvákban. Életében egyetlen mûve sem került múzeumba, a hivatalos elismerést, a Salon "mention honorable"-ját is már súlyos betegen kapta. 1880-ban vásárolták meg két képét a Nemzeti Múzeum képtárának. Petrovics Eleké az érdem, hogy az I. világháború idején és utána a gazdasági nehézségek ellenére Paál Lászlónak egész teremre való mûvét tudta megszerezni a Szépmûvészeti Múzeum számára. Ezek közé tartozik ez a mû is. PAÁL, László (1846, Zám - 1879, Charenton) In the Forest of Fontainebleau 1876 Oil on canvas, 91,5 x 63 cm Hungarian National Gallery, Budapest The art of László Paál gave many original features to Barbizon School. Of the great masters in Paál's time only Millet actually lived in Barbizon, and he followed the activity of the Hungarian artist and the other young painters who worked there with great interest, and was highly appreciative of his passionate paintings. Paál's work was first associated with that of T. Rousseau and later he was compared with Diaz de la Péna. Yet there is something that makes him quite different from them - his imposing power of rendering, and his highly nostalgic, nature-inspired delineation. In his best works, the romantic approach is combined with a realistic representation and expression of atmospheric effects. The painting "In the Forest of Fontainebleau" is bathed in sunlight, the forms are strict and there is still a vibrant translucent effect. His palette has an abundance of greens - glistening olives, the pale green of sunlit leaves, the sea-green of moss, the dark green of the deep mysterious forest - these and many more variations of green foliage shimmer in the dancing shafts of sunlight. Not one of his works was acquired by a museum during his lifetime, and his only official recognition, the "mention honorable" of the Paris Salon came when he was already seriously ill. In 1880 two of his pictures were bought for the collection of the National Museum. Thanks to Elek Petrovics, the Museum of Fine Arts, despite financial difficulties, bought a number of his works during and after the First World War, among them his painting. Type: landscape Time-line: 1876-1900 Form: painting |
