Description

Giraffa camelopardalis antiquorum ♂ × G. c. wardi ♀ = Giraffa camelopardalis antiquorum Swainson, 1835 ♂ × G. c. giraffa von Schreber, 1784 ♀, foetus

English: Partly dissected head of hybrid giraffe foetus (Kordofan Giraffe male × South African Giraffe female) from right lateral. Recovered at about 350 days of gestation (two-third term) from mother which died in London Zoo on May 5 1906. A = base of right ossicone on parietal bone, B = left horn, C = integument removed from head, D = periosteal membrane removed from skull, F = frontal bone, Sut. = fronto-parietal suture.
