Summary
[edit]DescriptionPW train approaching Bridge End - 1976 (geograph 3803508).jpg |
English: PW train approaching Bridge End - 1976 Diesel hydraulic locomotive No. 2 hauls ballast wagons towards the site of Bridge End station during work to reopen the former Belfast Central Railways. Points to note include the wagons, built by the UTA in 1966 for the haulage of spoil between Magheramorne (on the Larne line) and the site of the M2 motorway. When this contract ended on 2 May 1970, NIR continued to use these wagons for ballast. Part of the former BCDR works can be seen at right - cleared in 1994 to make way for the M3 motorway. |
