| Description | The newly commissioned patrol vessel (PV) Kristine Fairbanks patrols Alaska’s Prince William Sound as part of the U.S. Forest Service’s mission in the Alaska Region on May 5, 2012. The PV Kristine Fairbanks was designed perform extended patrols, carry heavy loads, sleep up to four people, allow officers to safely carry equipment, passengers and prisoners. The vessel’s electronics equipment includes the latest in technological advances that will assist in safer navigation with an innovative drop bow design that allows for safe shore access when checking operations on shore. The boat is named for U.S. Forest Service law enforcement officer Kristine Fairbanks who was killed in the line of duty on Sep. 20, 2008. Photo by Milo Burcham. Photo by U.S. Forest Service. |
