Heartdisease held the third place in three of these periods, and Diphtheria and Typhoid Feverwere each third in the fifth and sixth period of age respectively. In the period betweensixty and seventy years, Heart Disease was the most fatal, Paralysis second, andCancer third. Between seventy and eighty years 42 per cent, of all the deaths were fromold age. The next highest was Heart Disease, followed by Paralysis. In the next andlast period, eighty years and over, Old Age again ranks as the highest cause of death,Paralysis second, and Heart Disease third. Scarlet Fever, Enteritis, Apoplexy, and Dropsydid not either of them rank higher than the fifth cause of death in any period.
