| Description | The lady the security chaps were talking to was selling snacks- fried bugs. I'd read about this being sold in Thailand, and was fascinated to see a tray full right here in Phnom Penh. My taxi driver urged me to try some. You must, you are taking her photograph, he urged. And so I did. A bit crunchy, probably over-fried, but once I'd got over the initial culture shock of putting insects into my mouth, they were not to bad at all. Little did I know that I'll have fried insects and bugs for lunch in Siem Reap the following day! (picture in my Prek Toal Bird Sanctuary album). (Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Apr/ May 2014) |
