Inv 480; OPWEKKING VAN LAZARUS, XVIIde eeuw, toegeschreven aan Antoon VAN DEN HEUVEL; doek 197 cm x 173 cm; in altaar nr. 91 van kapel XII.; Christus heeft de arm opgeheven naar de naakte Lazarus die zich moeizaam wederopricht; Maria Magdalena, in een mantel van brokaat, Martha met hoed op het hoofd, en talrijke verwonderde omstaanders.; Enigszins geïnspireerd door het werk van 0. Venius, nr. 454.; Mogelijk te identificeren met de Verrijzenis van Lazarus die door Hellin, 528, in de Vigliuskapel wordt toegeschreven aan Pourbus, maar door Spruyt en de Goesin, 8, aan A. van den Heuvel. Naderhand in de krypte terechtgekomen (Kervyn, 197). Circa 1906 naar boven gehaald en op huidige plaats opgesteld, ter vervanging van de twee luiken van de Werken van Barmhartigheid (nr. 443). G. Hulin (Bull. G,1,9 06, p. 63, nr. 2) vereenzelvigt het werk ten onrechte met het oorspronkelijk altaarstuk uit kapel XI.; Vermits het onderwerp uitgesproken verband houdt met de hoop op Verrijzenis, is het niet uitgesloten dat het een votief-funerair schilderij betreft. Men notere dat de grafsteen van de schilder en zijn familie in Sint-Baafs lag (Hellin, 555).; Inventaris van het Kunstpatrimonium van Oost-Vlaanderen, V: Sint-Baafskathedraal, Gent; door Dr Elisabeth Dhaenens, 1965. . .
